Identity Consciousness (Samson)

So the Angel of the LORD said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her be careful. She may not eat anything that comes from the vine, nor may she drink wine or similar drink, nor eat anything unclean. All that I commanded her let her observe.” Judges 13:13-14

Samson, a man of valour and unusual anointing, lost his life to being careless with his identity. The Scripture above was the instruction God gave Samson's mother at his conception. He was not an ordinary man in any sense. If God could be asking his mother to avoid any form of defilement during her pregnancy, then you can agree that he carried God's presence.

Delilah would not have succeeded in deceiving Samson, if she had not met him at the point when he had broken his covenant birth right. When a man forgets his true identity as a child of God, just anything can happen to him.
Samson's mother was not to eat anything unclean, yet he eat honey from the carcass of a lion and patronise a prostitute. (Judges 16:1-3)

Samson's strength had long left him before Delilah took off his locks. That was only the physical manifestation of it. Otherwise, how could anyone been as foolish as to keep getting closer to his own death in such simple and undisguised noose? (Judges 16:4-20)

That is usually what happens when we forget who we are. It's important to guard your identity as a Christian diligently. There are things you just can't do!

Prayer point

Lord please help me to understand and uphold Your purpose and identity for my life.
